These 19 Creative Food Ads Will Make You Hungry. So Very Hungry.

Most of us think we're not influenced by advertising, especially food advertising. "I don't need an ad to tell me what and when to eat," you may think. There is, however, something to be said for the ascetics of convincing food advertising. Designers toil for months and sometimes years getting everything just right. They work so hard because they want you to become hungry the instant you see their ad. I dare you to look at these 19 beautiful food ads and not be hungry by the end.1.) McDonald's ad. The sandwich for experts.2.) True, and delicious.3.) I hate it when that happens.4.) What a hunk. ...

What’s Hidden In These Photos Was Extremely Important. That’s Why This Is So Brilliant.

The photos below seem to be of a normal, suburban neighborhood, but they're actually hiding something so important: a military base. Burbank's Lockheed Air Terminal (which is now known as Bob Hope Airport) underwent a major makeover during World War II. In February 1942, a Japanese submarine was seen outside of San Francisco Bay. Then, when another was spotted in Santa Barbara, the US government decided to protect vital military installations along the Pacific Coast. For the Lockheed airport base, it was decided to camouflage the entire base to look like a suburban neighborhood. It was surprisingly effective. This seems like a normal rural neighborhood, right? A cinemagraph is a special kind of digitally altered photograph that uses both stills and animation. In one frame, a motion will loop and the remainder of the photograph will stay still, creating a mind-boggling and beautiful effect. Artists Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg have created some of the most stunning cinemagraphs we have ever seen. Their most recent set shows you what New York City would look like through a pair of Armani glasses... and the effect is incredible. When out of frame (literally) the world is a blur. Turkish artist Hasan Kale is so committed to his craft, even his canvases are creative. Chocolate, peanut shells, the skin of an onion--there doesn’t seem to be anything he can’t paint on. They’re not just any paintings, either. The detail Kale puts into his landscapes would be impressive at any size. The fact that he does so on such a small scale just makes it an even bigger accomplishment. Check out these micro masterpieces!1.) Chocolate Hasan Kale2.) Onion skin Hasan Kale3.) M&M Hasan Kale4.) Transforming something old into something new is a wonderful idea more people should consider. "Upcycling" not only saves on waste, but you can end up creating some really amazing things. David Irvine started The Gnarled Branch back in 2004. He brought home na discarded wooden table and gave it new life. He refurbished it and added a new artistic twist. Though he frequently uses furniture as his canvas, Irvine has also tried his hand at updating old paintings he found at thrift shops. By adding original creatures (some goofy, some menacing) and beloved characters from pop culture to unwanted paintings, Irvine revitalizes the pieces and makes you wish you had them hanging on your walls. I know I'd buy any of these revamped works of art.1. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbu...

Something As Simple As Post-It Notes Transformed NYC Ad Agencies Into Children

If you've ever wondered what employees at fancy ad agencies do all day in New York City, here's your answer... While Canal Street is probably best known for its Chinese food, the NYC street is also home to countless advertising firms. And this past week, an epic war broke out between them. It wasn't over a potential client, money, or even a cool campaign...no, it was over which of the creative agencies could put together the most impressive Post-It Note window display. What started out with a simple "Hi" spelled out by one competitor, has escalated into what must be eating up hours of their workdays... First, supplies are gathered -- in secret, of course. I feel like a Post-it spy with a new mission! Thanks, @Postit! #...
